How Did Marcelo Campo Die?
On the afternoon of Saturday, October 14, 1978, Marcelo Campo jumped to greatness. He wasn't able to get anywhere. It happened in the "cathedral of rugby," as it's termed. He sailed over the English at Twickenham and scored not only one of the most famous tries in Pumas history, but also one of the top 100 tries of all time.
He made his national team debut on that day, in the 13th draw with England. He was 21 years old at the time. He went on tour on Saturday. He was going to be 64 years old on Thursday. A heart attack struck him in Uruguay at the wrong time.
