How Did DMX Die?
Earl Simmons, better known by his stage name DMX, died on April 9, 2021, after seeking medical attention. At the time of his death, the 'Ruff Ryders Anthem' hitmaker was 50 years old.
On Friday, April 2, 2021, at about 11 p.m., DMX went into cardiac arrest at his home due to a drug overdose. He was rushed to a White Plains, New York, hospital's critical care unit right away.
According to TMZ, the rapper had "some brain activity" at first, but the prognosis "is not looking good." He was on life support for the majority of the time leading up to his death, and due to a lack of oxygen supply to his brain, his brain function deteriorated.
His family wrote in a statement,
We are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at 50 years old at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side after being placed on life support for the past few days,
