How Did Chad Walker Die?
Trooper Chad Walker, 38, of the Central Texas Department of Public Safety, who was shot several times while stopping to support a stranded motorist west of Mexia on Friday night, made his final journey home to Groesbeck Wednesday night, followed by a procession of fellow officers.
Trooper Chad Walker of the Texas Highway Patrol was ambushed on Friday evening while responding to a damaged vehicle parked on the side of a rural road just outside of Mexia, a small town about 40 miles northeast of Waco.
According to Todd Snyder, regional director of the Texas Department of Public Safety, Walker, who was alone, pulled up behind the vehicle and was shot in the head and abdomen before he could get out of his patrol car.
