Sugako Hashida, a scriptwriter best known for the critically acclaimed 1980s television drama series "Oshin," died Sunday at her home in Atami, Shizuoka Prefecture, of lymphoma, according to her foundation. She died at the age of 95.

Who Was Sugako Hashida?

Sugako Hashida was a scriptwriter from Japan. She is best known for writing the NHK drama Asadora Oshin and is Japan's most prolific TV drama scriptwriter. She was born on May 10, 1925, in Seoul, South Korea.

Screenwriter Hashida Sugako (95) passed away on April 4 due to acute lymphoma; no farewell ceremony was held and she was cremated today. She had written many serial dramas including Oshin, Wataru Seken wa Oni Bakari, and other numerous masterpieces. RIP.
